From College Courts to NFL Sidelines
Breaking into the world of professional sports photography wasn’t just about having a camera—it was about learning to anticipate the perfect moment, adapting to high-pressure environments, and delivering images at lightning speed. My journey started on a college basketball court in Virginia, where a chance meeting with seasoned photographer Geoff Burke changed everything. Under his mentorship, I went from capturing NCAA games to shooting on the sidelines of NFL, NBA, and MLS events. Along the way, I mastered fast turnarounds using Photo Mechanic, embedding metadata, and transmitting images via FTP—all crucial skills in the fast-paced world of sports media. Though my career has since evolved into marketing, the lessons from those high-energy sidelines continue to shape the way I tell stories today.
